About the Chef
Elexis Ruiz is a Puerto Rican and Dominican chef hatched in Chicago, who spent summers during her childhood in the Dominican Republic watching her grandmother at the stove. There were no explanations, no recipes - just salsa music and her 'wela' cooking with her heart and her taste buds.
Chef Ruiz grew up on comforting dishes like arroz con pollo, mofongo, tostones - things with minimal fuss, but throughout her culinary career she grew to appreciate modern approaches and brings that to her cooking style.
With that in mind, she uses her childhood as inspiration to create tasty memories at private dinners, demonstrations, pop ups and more.
